GOD IS AN IMMIGRANT PDF Print E-mail

The Hispanic Ministry Training Institute of the Conference Council on Hispanic-Latino Ministries has scheduled several workshops throughout Oregon and Idaho to build a network of persons wishing to explore immigration from a biblical perspective and to advocate for more just immigration policies. The workshop entitled “God Is An Immigrant” will begin with an exploration of what the Bible and the Church say about immigrants and will then explore effective ways of faithfully responding as Christians.

The workshops in either Spanish or English will be offered at the following churches:

Saturday, February 6 – Wilder (Idaho) UMC 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (in Spanish and English)
Saturday, February 13 – Cornelius UMC (Western Dist.) 1-5 p.m (in Spanish)
Saturday, February 20 – Corvallis UMC (Southern Dist.) 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (in English)
Saturday, March 13 – Beaverton UMC (Metro Dist.) 1-5 p.m. (in English)

The workshops will be facilitated by Mira Conklin, Cathy Whitlatch, and Ron Whitlatch, all trained by the National Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministries for immigration modules. All persons interested in immigration including members of other churches and from the community at large are encouraged to attend. All workshops are free, with the exception of Corvallis where a free-will donation will be received for the lunch.
