Jots from John for March PDF Print E-mail

There was a farmer who was a very devout man. He would stop whatever he was doing in his field three times each day to pray. You could set your watch by his punctuality – 10 am, noon, and 2 pm. One day at 10 am this farmer realized he had left his prayer book at home. It was too far to go get it. So he just prayed the alphabet three times and said, “God, you can rearrange the letters any way you want.” And God said, “That’s the best prayer you’ve ever prayed.”

Fossil United Methodist Church holds Community Event PDF Print E-mail

The idea of an Ice Cream Social turned into the Faith Fair that was held in September on the church grounds in Fossil.
Games, foot races, bean bag toss, face painting and crafts were popular
with the families. The Brontosaurus Bounce (a large inflatable room) was a great kid’s pleaser.
Live music was provided by the Jam Session group which “jams” every
Tuesday in the Fireside Room of the church. There were sing-a-longs with Jack
Lorts. Guitars, violins, banjo, accordion and key board entertained all afternoon.
Hotdogs, ice cream, cookies and drinks were served and the weather was perfect.
The Faith Fair was a success in bringing the community, people from other cities and the church together to join hands for a great afternoon.

Central District Church Receives Award PDF Print E-mail

The 2009 United Methodist Women’s Charter for Racial Justice Recognition Awards were announced and the following people and programs from the Central District were honored.

The After School Mentoring Program (AMP), under the direction of Ruth Chamberlin, meets twice a week at First United Methodist Church of Klamath Falls, located in a low-income neighborhood, to provide assistance with homework, nutritional snacks, and crafts or games for the children when their homework is completed. Children with no homework spend the time reading with an adult volunteer, a special time for both! The program was developed by Ruth Chamberlin and Vickie Dumbeck and is staffed by volunteers from the United Methodist Church and the Dragon Fly Youth Program. AMP is open to all children from the school, regardless of race or ethnicity. As one volunteer put it, “We just love them all.”
